There truly is beauty inherent in every season here at our ranch in the Texas Hill Country, but I must say this Fall is extraordinarily beautiful. Early Fall rains have left the landscape green and dotted with Fall wildflowers. Varities that save their exquisite display just for this time of the year- Gayfeather, bee-bush, October
daisies, and others are providing ample feeding for an amazing number of butterflies. Mornings dawn cool and brisk, followed by warm afternoons swathed in cool breezes, and evenings cool enough to sit by the fireside, indoors or out. Its a wonderful time to be here, and we still
have availabiity for most dates in the near future. If you can manage a few days here, even on short notice, it will be well worth your time.

THANK YOU TO OUR LADIES' FALL RETREAT GUESTS!
The Incredible Fall weather and environment provided the perfect back-drop for our first Fall Ladies' Retreat Oct. 2st-3rd. This wonderful group of women- Tricia Speed, Erin Harris, Debbie HIcks, Sarah Hatley, Kathy Hunt, (Not pictured), and Kassie Hunt, (not pictured), shared their lovely personalities, incredible spirits, and individual talents with me and each other, creating a restful and rejuvenating experience for us all.

I'd like to share some of their thoughts with you about the weekend:
Hi Dianne,
I want to thank you for the lovely time I had at your ranch!...All the best! Tricia
Thank you for the renewal of my spirit. This is my first chance on my e-mail since I got back Sunday. I appreciate the pictures... I miss the hills already.
Debbie
I should be thankin you. It was an amazing weekend and you put together great activities. I really enjoyed
meeting your family and the warm hospitality everyone offered. Even the horses were relaxed and well rested!
Look forward to visiting again. Thanks again and for the picts too Sarah
Thanks for the pics and the pears! Chris and I baked a few of our pears with a little bourbon and a lot of
brown sugar yumminess. They were fabulous and I can't wait to plan what I will do with the rest of my box.
:o) Have a wonderful week!
Erin
We are already planning to have another Ladies' Fall Weekend Retreat onthe first weekend of
October in 2011.
For those who may not be able to make it at that time, I may arrange another between now and then.
If you are interested in attending such a retreat, let me know what time of year is good for you.
THANK YOU AGAIN, LADIES, FOR YOUR OPENNESS AND STRENGTH OF SPIRIT!
YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL!
I know, June was a long time ago, but since it's been 2 years since i last took time to post to this blog, I'd like
to catch you up on a few of the great things that have been happening here lately, and not-so-lately.
June 3-6, we had our 4th annual Cattle Working Clinic, with Janet Spencer, Sabine Grebe, Chris Hansen,
Danny Ovaert, Rolinda Click, Janette Sims, Rebecca Hudson,Renita Massey, amd Lisa and Lindsay Youse
participating. We had a fantastic time, and everyone rode great, especially by the end of the clinci!
Here are a couple of pictures. More will be posted on our new Facebook page within the next few days.
Hope you enjoy them! YOU CAN CLICK ON THE PICTURES BELOW TO SEE THEM FULL SIZE.
Oh, Yeah, did I mention, HILL COUNTRY EQUESTRIAN LODGE IS NOW ON FACEBOOK! Look us up, and share us with your friends!
Moving along into July, we had 3 weeks of Whole Horsemanship Camp July 4-24, with an awesome group of young ladies riding both English and Western disciplines- (photos for this also to be posted on our
Facebook page.) (Camp dates for 2011 are July 3-23, with 1-week, 2-week, and 3-week camps being offered. Email us for details).
We topped our awesome camp off with our Team GIrl Power winning the Guest Ranch Rodeo Championship title on July 23 & 24, for the 2nd year in a row! Team members Delaney Disher, Janna Lindig, Hannah Thomson, and Kathy Hunt, lead by team captain, Dianne Linidg, won 1st in 3 events, and 3rd in the fourth event to clinch the title and bring the Esther Benedict trophy back home to Hill Country Equestrian Lodge!
To celebrate our victory, we fielded an expanded Team Girl Power of 7 gorgeous girls and horses in the Celebrate Bandera Parade on Sept. 4!RIding in the parade were Dianne Lindig on Smoky, Janna LIndig on Julep, Cora Schomburg on Fancy, Kassie Hunt on Buck, Kathy Lindig on Socks, Alyson Ivey on Jack, and Kaitlyn Hunt on Molly.
Once again, Peter and I are so proud of our "girls" and our horses, and we're already getting ready to defend our title in 2011, and to ride victoriously in the Labor Day Parade next year!
That about brings us up to date with major news here at the ranch.
Before closing, I want to thank all of the wonderful guests who've visited us in the past several months. I will be posting the reviews which some of you have generously written shortly. If you've visited us recently, and would like to post your review here, email it to me and let me know that you'd like for me to post it for you. If you've already done this- Thanks so much!
I'm going to do my best to turn over a new leaf, and post regularly to our blog, so that all of you have a chance to find out the good stuff going on here. Meanwhile, let me hear from you. Email me news which you might like to share with others who've been our guests. Or email us to find out how the horses are, how the weather is, how Primrose the barn kitty is doing- whatever you might like to know. We always love to hear from you.
Until our next email or post- Take Care! Dianne (and Peter) at Hill COuntry Equestrian Lodge
